Where do we start? Greenville’s population has nearly doubled in the last 20 years. East Carolina University is the third largest university in North Carolina. Vidant is building a new 418,000 square foot Cancer Center in our thriving Medical District. Indigreen Corporate Park is adding approximately 800 new jobs. The $37 million Tenth Street Connector will provide a direct multimodal transportation link between the Medical District and Uptown/East Carolina University (ECU) Main Campus. ECU created a Millennial Campus, which allows the university to engage in public-private-partnerships. Our Uptown area has attracted $527 million in new investment in the last few years alone.
More than any other reason, though, you should consider Greenville for your next project because this place offers a high quality business and investment climate at an affordable cost. Consider this: Forbes has ranked Greenville in the top 75 (out of 200) for costs of doing business. Also, approximately one-third of Greenville's residents hold a bachelor’s degree or higher.
Greenville is the healthcare, retail, and education hub of eastern North Carolina:
- Vidant Medical Center in Greenville employs 6,560 people who are paid over $450 billion in annual wages; one of the fastest growing hospital systems in the nation, Vidant Health owns 12 hospitals and serves 29 counties in eastern North Carolina
- Approximately 10,000 workers commute into the Greenville M.S.A. every day
- Greenville has high concentrations of professionals in health and education-related occupations
Greenville is also a hub for sports, recreation, and culture. Local offerings include a diverse and rich mix of musical, dance, and theater performances; art studios and galleries; adult and youth arts courses and workshops; interactive music and arts festivals.
On Saturdays in the fall, Greenville’s population nearly doubles, as ECU Pirates football fans and tailgaters flood into town. Our game day experience is another example of Greenville’s high quality, low cost advantage: Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium seats over 50,000 fans, yet there isn’t a bad seat in the house; corporate luxury boxes are available, yet ticket prices are affordable.
